Technical Assistance

The Ross and Ruth Downing Family Foundation has helped nonprofit organizations in the greater Dayton area with incorporation, policies and procedures, by-laws, strategic and business planning, setting up quality improvement and evaluation processes, and other types of assistance.

Nonprofits are often referred from other agencies or entities for assistance.  In a limited number of cases, we may also help nonprofits with grant-writing.

Whenever possible, we recommend that new start-up and smaller agencies consider whether they could collaborate with and/or merge efforts with other established organizations to reduce administrative costs and achieve economy of scale.  Nonprofits and community groups working together can also create synergy through uniting their efforts.

The types of collaboration that organizations should consider include the sharing fundraising,grant-writing, accounting, quality improvement, volunteer administration, information technology, program evaluation and programmatic efforts.  Nonprofit should also consider sharing facilities.

We also provide training to assist nonprofits including workshops that address grant-writing and fundraising, developing strategic planning processes, volunteer management, quality improvement, and program evaluation and training that addresses specific program issues.
